Detection of serum β-hCG various means of development, significantly promoted the treatment and follow-up of trophoblast disease. However, in some cases, high levels of beta-hCG in serum can lead to high levels of “hook effects,” creating low-level artifacts in the blood that present unexpected problems in the treatment of patients. When this patient’s serum is diluted, it is found that the hCG level is actually high. From 1985 to 1990, 93 cases of complete hydatidiform mole were diagnosed and treated by Beilinson Medical Center Gynecologic Oncology. Two of these patients developed high levels of barb-induced effects of β-hCG.
