U.S. Pratt & Whitney, Allison and General Electric have won contracts for a comprehensive study of the Joint Advanced Attack Technology (JAST) program propulsion system. Each contract lasts 9 months and the amount is 1 million US dollars. The purpose is to determine which technologies are more mature to meet the requirements of the JAST’s propulsion system, and the cost is reasonable. The main goal is to start the ground verification test in mid-1996. According to industry sources, the contractor used the verification machine to bring the propulsion technology to a mature level, thereby enabling the JAST power plant project to enter the engineering and manufacturing development stage. The second phase begins at the end of this year, and the engine contractor will develop a propulsion system data platform to help JAST aircraft body builders develop the entire weapon system.
