Objective To explore the influence of flight training on pilot’s ability of surface scanning. Methods 20 Navy fighter pilots served as the experimental group. The control group consisted of 20 undergraduates and physicians, each matched with the experimental group in terms of age, skill and educational level. The test was modeled by the additive factor method of reaction time and analyzed by the Kosslyn high-level visual processing model. Results In addition to the simple tasks of the reaction time, the test group compared with the control group in the image scanning distance of the reaction time and correct rate showed no obvious advantages. Conclusions The ability of the pilot to scan an image is not significantly enhanced by the system’s flight training, suggesting that this ability is less malleable
