应用电化学反应时相对于单纯的化学反应的一种区别性化学反应,电化学反应区别于单纯化学反应的重要方面是电化学反应是以离子形式而进行的离子间的复杂反应作用。在电化学反应的过程中存在微小的电流,或者电离子形式的物质生成。电化学相对于化学反应具有非明显的内在生成性,不同于铁与水、空气作用生成肉眼可见的红色铁锈的明显现象。电化学是体现于物质内部潜在的某些微妙的带电离子的化学生成物质过程。然而,同样为内在物质的微妙深入的化学反应,电化学反应与氧化还原反应并不等同。
