1985年初,广州市团委为了配合“两个文明建设”和“五讲四美三热爱”活动,策划了一次选美活动,叫做“首届羊城青春美大赛”。这在新中国的大城市还是第一次,也基本上没有外国选美的经验可学。
In early 1985, the Guangzhou Youth League planned a beauty pageant to tie in with the activities of “two civilizations” and “five lectures and four beauties and three love” activities, called the “First Guangzhou Youth Beauty Contest”. This is the first time in the big cities of New China that there is basically no experience of foreign beauty pageants.
