这是一行用数字显示的开拓者的足迹:1984年至1989年,青岛电冰箱总厂生产飞速发展,环比递增每年翻一番,定基增长1989年是1984年的89倍。特别是困难重重的1989年,产值达3.2亿元,比1988年增长32.2％;利税4400万元,比1988年增长57.3％。该厂已成为我国主要的冰箱出口厂家,产品70％以上出口,1989年出口创汇1633万美元,人均创汇1.6万美元。 这是一曲以荣誉为音符的追求卓越之歌:1988年,青岛电冰箱总厂进入国家二级企业行列,“琴岛——利勃海尔”电冰箱成为我国唯一两次在国际招标中夺魁的家电产品,并以总分第一的成绩摘取了中国冰箱制造史上国优评比的第一块金牌。1989年该厂被国家体改委授予风帆杯企业改革创新奖。厂长张瑞敏也先后荣获了全国和省市劳动模范,山东省优秀共产党员、优秀企业家、先进企业管理工作者,轻工部质量管理标兵等称号,并获得全国“五一”劳动奖章和山东省富民兴鲁劳动奖章,还当选为青岛市10届人大代表和全国工商联六届执委。
