党的十六届四中全会明确提出要适应我国社会的深刻变化,把构建和谐社会建设摆在重要位置。这是巩固党执政的社会基础、实现党执政的历史任务的必然要求,也是全面建设小康社会的必然要求。思想政治工作要发挥传统优势,并适应这一重大任务的变化,开拓创新,为构建和谐社会做出贡献。
The Fourth Plenary Session of the 16th CPC Central Committee clearly proposed that we should adapt to the profound changes in our society and put the building of a harmonious society at an important position. This is an inevitable requirement for consolidating the social foundation of the party in power and for fulfilling the historic task of the party in governing and is also an inevitable requirement for building an overall well-to-do society. Ideological and political work should give full play to its traditional advantages and adapt to the changes in this major task, blaze new trails and make contributions to building a harmonious society.
