The single crystal of zinc tungstate has attracted considerable attention asa strong luminescent material in recent years.However,it has a long fluo-rescence lifetime compared with BGO and,on the other hand,its quenchingtemperature is about 400K,which is too low for some special detectors.Wedoped the crystal with some rare earth ions as activators to improve.lumines-cence properties and studied the mechanism of discoloration effect of impuri-ties as well.

However, it has a long fluo-rescence lifetime compared with BGO and, on the other hand, its quenching temperature is about 400K, which is too low for some special detectors. With the crystal with some rare earth ions as activators to improve .lumines-cence properties and studied the mechanism of discoloration effect of minimi ties as well.
