现代飞机机体宽,结构复杂,飞机内部装修和燃料的火灾危险性大,燃烧速度快,发生火灾后,人员如果不在90秒钟内撤出就会有生命危险。消防部门对飞机内部火灾的危险性做过测试,并制定了有关的规定,但对如何改善扑救飞机火灾的设备没有给予足够的重视。事实上,飞机在地面上发生的人员伤亡事故主要是由于机舱内产生的烟和有毒气体所致。因此,如何在事故发生后迅速进入飞机内部灭火救人,是关键问题。对此,英国航空署
