The cerium oxide was separated using the special extractant P538 and the rare earth element impurities were measured with a JY38P plasma spectrometer. The lower limit of determination of the total amount of impurities was 3.6 ppm. The effects of output power, separation efficiency and non-rare earth impurities on the determination were studied. Method precision of 12% relative error less than 15%
