何香凝美术馆,一九九五年五月十三日中央批准兴建。江泽民总书记亲自题写了馆名。一九九六年三月一日动工,一九九七年四月正式建成。 何香凝美术馆位于深圳华侨城深圳湾大酒店西侧,建筑面积4000平方米,设有主展厅1个(1000平方米),副展厅两个(各250平方米),另设有报告厅、画室,藏品库、美术教室、装裱间等配套设施。该馆的设计风格,按照中央确定要体现何香凝老人一生的品格和庄重,实效、适度的原则,揉和了中国传统及现代建筑空间造型手法,结合华侨城旅游景区原有的风貌,整体感觉典雅,别致。 美术馆展厅将长期展出何香凝的绘画作品。开馆时展出的有她的绘画精品108件,包括了她从本世纪初叶起至一九七二年临终前各个历史时期的作品。 何香凝(1878—1972)是孙中山先生的亲密战友,是廖仲恺先生的革命伴侣。她不仅是一位杰出的革命家和政治活动家,而且是一位在海内外享有盛誉的著名画家。
