Stem memory T cells (Tscm) are the earliest type of memory T cells with the longest survival time. These cells have the characteristics of stem cells such as self-renewal and pluripotent differentiation, which play an important role in anti-tumor. The role of HIV-1 in HIV-1 infection has also become a research hotspot. This article describes the characteristics of Tscm cells, the importance of CD4 + Tscm cells in the HIV-1 virus reservoir, and the latest research on the antiviral effect of CD8 + Tscm cells. To understand and make full use of the characteristics of Tscm cells and their role in HIV-1 infection will help to develop a new HIV-1 vaccine targeting Tscm and a new immunotherapy approach for the prevention and control of HIV-1 Cure offers new strategies.
