The Fourth Session of the First National People’s Congress Approves Premier Zhou Enlai’s Report on the Work of the Government. The meeting approved the 1956 national accounts based on the opinions of the budget committee review report and amended the report on the approval of the 1957 state budget and Vice Premier Li Xiannian and Minister of Finance on the 1956 state accounts and the 1957 state budget draft. The meeting approved the 1957 National Economic Plan and the report of Vice Premier Bo Yi Bo and Director of the State Economic Commission on the implementation of the 1956 National Economic Plan and the draft National Economic Plan of 1957. The meeting considered these reports as a matter of fact to reflect the tremendous achievements and some shortcomings and mistakes made by the government in the past year, correctly summed up the experience and lessons learned from the government work, and used facts to refute the fact that the bourgeois rightists in recent days opposed socialism and opposed people
