虎刺枝叶茂密,初夏白花繁盛,秋冬果实累累,鲜艳悦目。具有形体小巧、姿态雅美、四季常绿、小中见大的特点。是观叶、观花、观果兼而有之的极富观赏价值的常绿小灌木,深得广大盆景爱好者的青睐。由于虎刺大都远道从山区挖来,根系损伤,失水严重,培植不易。据笔者之经验,野生虎刺的培植须掌握以下三步骤,方能达到事半功倍,提高成活率。一、挖来的野生虎刺一般根系都不多,必须尽量挑选带有毛须根的植株,如只有主根没有须根则肯定难以成活。挑选后先剪去过长的主根,保留毛须根。再进行强修剪。
