西安在南北朝时期曾是前赵、前秦、后秦等国的都城,是通往西北、西南的交通要道。北魏是佛教传播与活动较为频繁时期,地下地上遗留下来的佛教造像较为丰富,是研究这一时期佛教传播的实物资料,现将西安市收藏的这时期造像介绍如下:永兴砂石弥勒造像:高55,宽25,厚6厘米。竖方拱形顶,正面分三层雕刻。第一层二个并排拱形龛,用阴线刻龛眉,内有一佛、高肉
