美国科学家最近设计出了一种不用拦河坝的小水电装置(见右图),并将于今春把第一台样机装在纽约罗斯福岛附近的吊桥桥身上。这种小水电装置状似风车,但它不是指向天空,而是伸进河里;流经罗斯福岛的潮水推动发电机的三只浆叶以每分钟六十圈的速度旋转,预计发电能力为二十到二十五千瓦。
American scientists recently designed a small hydroelectric installation without barrage (see photo to the right) and will mount the first prototype this spring on a suspension bridge near Roosevelt Island in New York. This small hydropower unit is a windmill, but it does not point to the sky but extends into the river. The tidal water flowing through Roosevelt Island drives the three blades of the generator to rotate at 60 turns per minute and the estimated power generation capacity is Twenty to twenty-five kilowatts.
