About two-thirds of the roads in Gansu are distributed in arid regions (with an annual rainfall of 500 mm or less). Only 40% of the trees are planted on both sides of the road before liberation. In some areas, only 1% Strain, in the popular Taoist “tree planting trees do not live” argument. After the liberation, due to the importance attached by the party and the government, road maintenance workers actively tested and improved. As a result, they had achieved a high survival rate in areas where the trees were not viable. For example, in Lanzhou, there were 2,100 trees planted in 1953 between 992 and 996 km on the western highway, Survival rate of 98%; Wuwei segmentation, in 1956 in Gansu-Gansu 16 road Gobi planting trees, almost all survived, the branches and leaves grow strong; Anxi sub-segment has never been planted in a tree Gobi beach 891 Strain, survived 88%, by the local government “collective tree planting model” award. The experiences of growing poplar and willow trees in arid areas of Gansu (nine tenths of the province’s road trees are poplar and willow) are as follows:
