第十二届国际沉积学大会于1986年8月25日至30日,在澳大利亚首都坎培拉国立大学召开,会期6天,会前、会后均安排了地质旅行。参加大会的有来自五大洲几十个国家和地区的九百多位代表,其中以美国人数居第一位,澳大利亚第二,西德第三,中国第四(48人参加)。大会收到学术论文近1600篇,共开辟了11个会场,分六个专业大组,51个专题小组,有1180人做了1568个学术交流发言,有近100个特邀发言,会议还有图片、幻灯展示104个、新书展销若干个。集中了世界沉积学名流学者,人才荟萃。会议内容丰富多彩,收获不少。
The 12th International Conference on Sedimentology was held at the National University of Canberra, Australia from August 25 to August 30, 1986. The meeting was scheduled for 6 days, with geostrips arranged before and after the conference. More than 900 delegates from dozens of countries and regions in five continents attended the conference, with the largest number of Americans in the United States, the second in Australia, the third in Western Germany and the fourth in China (48 participants). The conference received nearly 1,600 academic papers and opened 11 venues in total. There were six professional groups and 51 special groups. Among them, 1180 people made 1568 academic exchange speeches, nearly 100 invited speeches and meetings. Pictures, slide show 104, a number of new book exhibition.
