Many major events in the history of the Republic of China have been linked to the relocation of the “capital city.” In some ways, the history of the Republic of China can be described as the history of the relocation of the Republic of China. After the completion of the Northern Expedition in 1928, many discussions on the relocation of Kuomintang from Peiping to Nanjing led to many historical books or even no mention at all. Then why did the capital move south? What are the KMT parties’ attitude towards this? What are their deep considerations?
