黄浦江水中有机污染日益加剧,上海自来水中微菌落杂菌的出现频率亦日益增多。据上海自来水公司的不完全统计,早在1963年时,便发现自来水中有此类杂菌存在;1970年8月杨树浦水厂管网水中微菌落杂菌的出现率竟达30%;1974年以后几乎每年出现。此类杂菌的出现时间均在6~8月份,正是上海霉雨季节的末尾。此时,黄浦江水呈黑色,发臭,游离氨达2.0毫克/升以上,溶解氧几乎没有,污染指数均在5.0以上,而出厂水的总余氯为3.5~4.5毫克/升时,管网水中仍有此类杂菌存在。
