2008年10月24日,在“3G时代小灵通发展前景”研讨会上,小灵通的去向问题成为了与会通信专家们的讨论焦点。原北京网通副总工程师郝秀芳表示,“小灵通已被时代潮流无情地推向了悬崖边缘,北京目前仅存70余万小灵通用户,小灵通已经进入了自生自灭的阶段。”与之相反,杭州电子科技大学徐福新教授则是小灵通坚定的支持者,“如果能建立全资子公司进行相对独立的运营,小灵通定能再现昔日辉煌。”
