The national industrial survey of the pharmaceutical industry ended recently. The results of the census show that China’s pharmaceutical economy has grown at a high speed. According to the census, there were 8,365 pharmaceutical industry enterprises in China in 1995, of which 2,775 were Chinese medicine plants, an increase of 5,412 from 1985. The total assets were 151.96 billion yuan, an increase of 14.9 times over 1985.
