少林武术蜚声远近,但徽商与少林武术的渊源,却未见有人专文论及。本文收集族谱、文集、笔记及契约文书等,对明代徽州武术大师程宗猷(冲斗)的生平事迹做了细致的考证,从商业史的角度对《少林棍法阐宗》作了新的阐释,并讨论了少林武术与徽商及明清以还的徽州社会。指出:在明代,徽州至少出现过具有全国性影响的两位武术大师,他们分别前往少林和峨嵋学习武术,这与徽州当地的尚武之风及明代中叶以还经商风气的日益炽盛密切相关。明清以来,徽州虽然也出现过一些镖师,但却始终没有形成镖局那样的组织。相对而言,信局和信客的活动更为频繁,这与徽商经营的重点区域及中国南北人文风气的差异有关。
