Language is closely related to characters. Chinese characters differ from English words. So in the course of cross-cultural translation, they may cause mislooking because of spelling;mislistening because of pronunciation and miscomprehending because of semantic meaning, and so on. As a matter of fact, a translator may face many difficulties of linguistic transfer, difficulties that are sometimes almost insurmountable. The author uses some examples from the two English versions to analyze and illustrate it.
