Scientists have completed the sequencing of human DNA on chromosomes 9 and 10, making the total number of human chromosomes mapped to 11. About 100 genes in chromosome 9 are related to human diseases. Earlier versions of the sequence have helped scientists identify several genes associated with rare neurodegenerative diseases that resemble Huntington’s disease. This chromosome also carries certain genes related to cancer and a rare condition called XY chromosome “sex dislocation” (a person whose physical characteristics are female but carry a male chromosome). There are 816 genes and 430 pseudogenes on chromosome 10, of which 85 genes
