The phenomenon of self-translation has been around for a long time, but self-translation studies began to emerge around the mid-1980s. Since the 21st century, the development of globalization has stimulated more bilingual or multilingual writers to promote their works by means of self-translation, and self-translation studies have also become a hot topic. In 2013, Bloomsbury Publishing published “Self-Translation: Managing Originality in Hybrid Culture.” This is the first collection of self-translation research papers ever collected, bringing together 12 papers and exploring translations from the perspectives of literary history, philosophy, sociology, psychology and post-colonialism, focusing on self-translation works Originality in a Complex Historical and Cultural Context. The book has a broad field of vision, rich cases, fully demonstrated the uniqueness and compatibility of self-translation studies, opening up new ideas for self-translation scholars.
