Concept History and Political Theory During World War II, I worked for the British diplomatic corps. Later, I returned to Oxford to continue teaching philosophy. At that time, I was deeply addicted to two central questions: One was monism, which was the central theme of Western philosophy since Plato. The other was the meaning of freedom and its application. I devoted a great deal of time to these two issues, and both of these issues have influenced my entire thinking for the rest of my years.
