Since 1979, the “Leopard” 2 main battle tanks have been equipped with the IDF in 8 batches and have been continuously improved. In order for the Leopard 2 to rival the most modern tanks in other countries, only a few technical modifications are not possible. When conditions do not permit the creation of a new type of main battle tank, it is inevitable to improve combat performance (of existing tanks). Colonel Wilbert Vroomen's article (Systemic work on the Leopard 2 main battle tank weapon system at Army Equipment Headquarters) discusses the purpose and justification for taking measures to improve combat performance on the Leopard 2 main battle tank. The article also briefly introduces some of the most important parts and their role.
