几年来话剧舞台上出现的正面人物形象,虽然也有一些比较鲜明生动的创造,但就一般来说,却普遍存在着贫弱干枯、苍白无力的现象.记得在前年华东话剧会演时,我在和同行们个别接触中,谈到正面人物的创造,发觉大家差不多都存在着苦闷的情绪.我们在相互交谈中,不约而同地都认为:我们的政治思想水平低,为了怕歪曲正面人物形象,在表演正面人物时多动不如少动,少动不如不动,不求有功,但求无过.另一方面,作为一个演员又是有责任感的,没有把现实中那些鲜明生动的英雄人物形象在舞台上体现出来,自已也不能心安理得.因此我急切地希望对这个问题能进行广泛的讨论和研究,特别是一些比较成功的经验和体会好相互交流.
