In the past, sand-casting, gravity-casting or low-pressure casting were used to produce hollow parts or castings with live cores. The use of collapsible cores in the production of such parts using high-productivity die-casting processes offers the advantage of being able to cast parts of complex shapes. The research notices this by using high-pressure, high-speed casting of the die-cast itself for mass production of hollow parts or parts cast with live core sand cores. A Japanese company began testing collapsed cores in 1974 to make die-castings. However, due to the high cost and discontinuation due to more processes than the usual method of producing die castings.
