According to Xinhua News Agency, the World Bank released the semi-annual report on East Asia in Singapore on October 6, reducing China’s economic growth forecast from 7.6% to 7.4% in 2014, but stressed that the Chinese government’s reform measures will make the economy go On a more sustainable development track. The report pointed out that a series of measures promulgated by the Chinese government, including controlling local government debts, curbing shadow banking, coping with overcapacity and pollution control, will lead to a drop in investment and manufacturing output growth. At the same time, the Bank cut its forecast for economic growth in China for the next two years from 7.5% to 7.2% and 7.1%. Sudir Shetty, chief economist for the World Bank in East Asia and the Pacific, said the slowdown in China’s economic growth will be a slow process that is not expected to have a dramatic impact on neighboring countries.
