2008年5月12日14时28分发生的汶川大地震(M8.0),使中国四川省主要城市的很多建筑都受到了破坏.笔者一行在地震发生一个月以后,以四川省都江堰市的学校建筑为对象,进行了受损度的调查,作为日本的研究人员,调查的目的是在可能的范国内把握学校建筑的现状,从学术的观点出发,正确记录受灾情况,在本报告中,对都江堰市中心约80栋学校建筑的受灾情况进行7分析,并参照了中国方面的有关调查结果.后来对都江堰市受灾学校进行了修复状况调查.
