In the history of modern Chinese culture, there are two well-known figures, they are the publisher Zhang Yuanji and translator Yan Fu. Zhang Yuanji is determined to work in the publishing industry. Yan Fu is still enlightening and helpful to us as he tries his best to translate the vision of the world through police power and the friendship and cooperation between them. Yan Fu (1854-1921) was a bourgeois enlightenment thinkers and famous translator in the late Qing Dynasty. He studied in England in his youth and extensively studied the doctrines of Western bourgeois ideological books, with his heart devoted to Adam Smith, Montesquieu, Rousseau, Darwin, Huxley, Spencer, and Mill. In these thinkers’ doctrines, Darwin’s theory of evolution later determined Yan Fu’s highest contribution to history. Yen Fu returned to China in 1879.
