ON February 22, 1995, the front pages of Chinese leading newspapers issued the selection results of Ten Outstanding Chinese Women. Han Yuling, headmaster of Haikou No.9 Primary School in Hainan, was one of the ten. That night, Han Yuling was restless. She thought she only did what she should, and yet she had gained so many honors including the national award for excellence in teaching, and one of the Ten National Outstanding Returned Overseas Chinese. She is included in such books as Dictionary of Contemporary Chinese Education
