This article reports two multidimensional HPLC methods for the determination of selected fat-soluble vitamins in fortified coconut oil and cod-liver oil. The first method uses gel permeation chromatography (GPC) to remove most lipids from the oily matrix and then use normal phase HPLC of the polar bonded phase. This online method detects both VA (retinyl acetate) and VD_2 (ergocalciferol) in the oil. The second method consists of online GPC / normal phase HPLC followed by offline reverse phase HPLC.
