《红字》使美国作家霍桑誉满全球,也是整个美国浪漫主义小说中最有声望的权威作品之一。作者在作品中采用的象征手法贯穿始终、无处不在,加强了作品的艺术效果。用象征的手法描写了女主人公的性格,使压迫下的真、善、美更加动人。本文从红字的多种象征意义、主要人物的人名寓意以及景物寓意等方面入手,研究《红字》中的象征手法。
The Scarlet Letter conquered the American writer Hawthorne one of the most prestigious and authoritative works in the entire American romantic novel. The symbolism adopted by the author in his works runs through all the time and strengthens the artistic effect of his works. Describing the character of the heroine with symbolism, making the true, the good and the beautiful under the pressure more touching.
