Ren Hongyuan is a poet who I have always respected. I was deeply impressed by a group of poems he wrote about “Oriental Wisdom” in the late 1980s. However, at the International Symposium on Contemporary Chinese Poetry in Wuyishan held in the summer of 1997, Ren Hongyuan brought
