浸出法采铜是我国冶金史上一项重要发明创造。2000年以前,在我国已经对铁置换铜有了认识。10世纪后期用于生产。12世纪初,每年浸出法生产铜500~1000吨,占全国产铜量的15~25%。铜的浸出方法以自然淋滤浸出为主,即收集山泉、溪流或矿坑中含铜酸性水加以利用。后来,使用了地面堆摊浸出。铜的回收方法是用铁来置换,多将含铜溶液在固定木槽或沟道内进行置换,也有的将含铜溶液在铁锅中加热煎熬。铁耗量每斤铜需用2~5斤。
