Baron de Willville recorded the scene of the French National Assembly in June 1789 during the French Revolution - a conservative aristocrat sitting on the right and a revolutionary civilian looking to the left. Since then, the spatial coordinates of “left ” and “right ” have become a concept that distinguishes between political positions. The history of leftist art can also be traced back to almost the same moment. When Jacques-Louis David agreed to replicate the political propaganda his work “The Death of Marat” (1793-1794) was supporting revolutionary activities, he forever changed the meaning of the image and power.
