This year the Commission of the European Communities will study the consideration of a new environmental strategy. Under this strategy, the environmental impact of all projects, including science and technology projects, must be evaluated. It is expected that the European economy will grow rapidly after the establishment of a unified European market in 1992, and thus formulating a corresponding environmental policy has become a very urgent task. Economic prosperity will bring a surge in sewage discharge. It is estimated that by the year 2000 there will probably be 200 million cars in Europe and the road network will also continue to expand; these vehicles alone will emit 25 million tons of waste annually within the European Community; and millions to millions Visitors will travel in Europe in the future, thus forming another considerable source of pollution and the degree of chemical pollution will also continue to increase. Mr. Rip Di Mena, Commissioner for Environmental Affairs of the Commission of the European Communities, proposed the following four aspects as environmental warfare
