This tutorial is an overview of color science and technology used in digital imaging systems. The tutorial consists of two parts: color perception and color reproduction. In the first part, human visual systems, trichromatic color vision, and color matching are explained. The second part introduces basic concepts of color reproduction and discusses the color processing techniques used in a digital imaging system. It covers device dependent color and device independent color, color calibration, gamut mapping, UCR/GCR, color management and ICC.
