In the four years from 1938 to 1941 when Shanghai became an isolated island, literature translation showed a prosperous situation. In addition to a basic survey of the number of translators and country translators, the author will also analyze the translation of the Spanish civil war, translation of reportage, compilation of drama literature, translation of Pearl S. Buck’s “Patriot”, translation of Soviet literature, and translation of Western magazines Hotspot to describe and explain the basic characteristics of such a prosperous situation; the author will also discuss the changes in the production mechanism behind such prosperity, including the translator team, the type of translation, and the mode of translation. Behind such a change, it is more than the organization and initiative of political organizations. It is also a reflection of the noisy and humane political and humane ecology in Shanghai’s isolated island.
