当我们还是母体中一个小小的受精卵时,那条代表性别的x染色体便决定了这个细胞将成为一个女人,同时也决定了有朝一日,雌激素将充满我们的躯体,令我们的生命之花明艳动人,散发着芬芳。我们拥有细腻的肌肤,丰盈的身躯,以及每月一次月经来潮。总之,我们之所以成为女人,无不归功于雌激素的作用。荷尔蒙(hormone)源于希腊文,意思是激活,由雌激素和黄体酮组成,荷尔蒙在女性的一生中起着极其重要的作用。女性生命的每个重要阶段,都少不了荷尔蒙的参与,生育哺乳、绝经……女人之所以为女人,与荷尔蒙的关系密不可分。两个年纪相同的女性,血液中雌激素差别,能让人看上去有7,8岁之差。
