肌电图技术用于研究颞颌关节紊乱综合征的肌电异常改变,对了解其病因及形态学改变具有重要意义。TMJDS的肌电图改变是正常下颌运动神经生理功能失调的表现,不但升颌肌群出现异常肌电,降颌肌群也有改变。患者的肌电静息期较正常人显著延长,且随症状严重程度而增长。通过肌电图观察证明,咬合板对TMJDS的疗效在于使肌肉伸长达到或接近最小肌电活动的垂直距离,使肌肉得以松弛。肌电生物反馈训练的作用可使紧张的肌肉松弛,从而降低患者咀嚼肌群的异常肌电水平。
