掌声雷动,经久不息。2002年4月12日下午,美国南加州大学报告厅。一位身材微瘦、身着黑色礼服的中国科学家步入领奖台,接受世界环境科学最高奖——“泰勒环境奖”这位成为获此殊荣的首位中国大陆科学家,就是中国科学院资深院士、中国科学院地质与地球物理研究所研究员刘东生。

A slim Chinese figure in a black dress enters the podium and receives the highest award of the world’s environmental science - the first Chinese mainland scientist to receive this honor, the “Taylor Environmental Award”, a senior academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Liu Dongsheng, a researcher at the Institute of Geology and Geophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
