把外源基因稳定地导入作物中,定向改造作物性状,创造作物新品种,为现代农业生产展现了光辉的前景。基因工程不但能补充作物育种中所需要的基因和增加种质资源的多样性,而且可缩短培育新品种的周期。利用根癌农杆菌介导法、显微注射法、微弹射击法、电激法等方法能将外源基因导入植物体中,基因工程在改良作物品质、提高作物产量、控制杂草、防治病虫害、生产生物产品等方面的成就使人类大受鼓舞。
