Since ancient times, people in both the East and the West stubbornly pursue the pleasures of form and color. Although form and color are only the limited responses of human knowledge, they prove that human beings are the structural defects of the wise organism. Paradoxically, the shortcomings and limitations identified by science and philosophy are precisely the source of art. More paradoxically, art transcends the material usefulness of its material existence to the point of uselessness. It is precisely the flawed and limited substance itself - including the Chinese ink and wash paper and the rice paper advocating the intangible form and the colorless color of China, as well as the Western oil paints and canvas that aim at imitating nature and pursuing the true good. The common pursuit of form and color is one of the channels by which they can be accepted by each other.
