影子戏一向是湖南广大劳动人民所爱好的。三十年前影子戏最盛行的时候,单在长沙市区便有七十多个挂牌营业的影子戏班子;农村中则有更多的乡里班子,不论哪个偏僻角落里的农民,每年都可以看到至少一两次影子戏。影子戏在长沙和其他较大的城市里还常常举行观摩竞赛性质的联台演唱和对台演唱。聊台演唱集合了十多个班子在同一场所同时演唱,使群众可以从比较中评判出优劣来;对台演唱,是在同一场所相互轮流演唱,不仅群众可以评判,影子戏班子也
