扬琴自传入中国起就成为了曲艺音乐中不可或缺的伴奏乐器,而其形制也因为伴奏的需求一直变化不大。然而建国后经过乐器的改革,扬琴的形制发生了巨大的变化。为独奏和大型民族乐团而改良的现代扬琴,其音量和音色已经不太能适应扬州清曲的需求了,而扬琴形制的下一步变革也正在进行之中。
