Objective To understand the situation of hepatitis E viremia and genotyping in non-compensation blood donors in Wenzhou. Methods From February to October in 2008, the blood donors in Wenzhou Blood Center of Zhejiang Province were enrolled by cluster sampling to detect anti-HEV IgG and IgM antibody. RT-PCR was carried out on the positive samples of HEV IgM. After sequencing, Genotype and sequence homology. Results Among 3044 blood donors, the positive rate of HEV IgG was 33.28% (1013/3044) and the positive rate of IgM was 0.92% (28/3044). Three of the 28 HEV IgM positive specimens were detected by PCR. The positive rate of nucleic acid was 0.1%, of which 2 were genotype Ⅳ infection and 1 was genotype Ⅰ infection. Conclusions There is a certain proportion of HEV carriers in the blood donors. It is necessary to evaluate the risk of transmitting HE in the blood transfusion through the existing blood screening strategies.
